The Nova Sling Bag

The Nova Sling bag is a modern take on a classic Teardrop Sling, that functions like a hobo style bag.

Perfect for daily travels, the strap can be easily changed for carrying as a sling bag, backpack, or a hobo style purse. Just unzip it for two straps or keep zipped for one.

The construction allows the maker to mix and match fabrics/substrates to create a sling bag that is uniquely you!

The Nova sling is created for organization. The exterior has 5 easy access pockets and a large zipper pocket on the interior. The Main zipper opening is large enough to make accessing the interior easy, and when closed while carrying is concealed, keeping your items inside safe.

The Nova Sling measures- 9” wide, 11” high and 7” deep.

Materials Needed:

FABRICS AND INTERFACINGS:

• ¾ yard 44” wide Quilting Cotton or ⅔ yard 54” Canvas/Vinyl or Leather- Main Fabric

• 1 ¼ yard 44” wide Quilting Cotton - Lining Fabric

• 1 piece (*at least) 8” x 7” Vinyl, Leather, or Cork Fabric- Contrast Fabric

• ½ yard 45” Fusible Pellon 809 Decor Interfacing - Heavy Interfacing

• 1 ¾ yard 20” Fusible Pellon SF 101 – Light Interfacing

• ⅓ yard Fusible Fleece -TP 97 1F - Pellon Fleece Thermolam Plus

HARDWARE:

• 2- ¾” Rectangle, D-Rings, or O-Rings

• 2- ¾” Adjustable Sliders

• 1- 2” Rectangle or D-Ring

• 1- Magnetic Snap or a Flap Closure of your choice

ZIPPERS:

• 1-16” #5 Coordinating Zippers- Main Closure

• 1-18” #5 Coordinating Zippers- Strap

• 3- 7” #3 or #5 Coordinating Zippers - Front Exterior Zipper Pocket, Exterior Side Zipper Pockets

• 1- 10” #3 or #5 Coordinating Zippers – Back Exterior Zipper Pocket

• 1- 11” #3 or #5 Coordinating Zippers – Interior Zipper Pocket

*NOTE: If using Zipper by the yard, you will need- 1 ⅔ yards of #5 zipper tape and 7 pulls
